in 2003 Sonker was founded as a bulk storage and handling terminal for petroleum products, gases and chemicals operating at Sokhna Port. Construction of the Bulk Liquids Terminal is being completed in sequenced phases.
In 2008 SBLT Jetty was constructed
The terminal started handling Ammonia storage & export for Egypt Basic Industries Corporation (EBIC) since 2009.
In order to overcome the deficit in the Natural Gas Production; Sonker Bulk Liquids Terminal (SBLT) has been chosen to be the only LNG regasification terminal in Egypt utilizing two floating storage and regasification units.
In March 2015 first FSRU “Hoegh Gallant” started operation supplying up to 500 MMSCFD of Natural Gas to Egypt national grid.

In November 2015 the second FSRU “BW Singapore” started operation supplying up-to 750 MMSCFD of Natural Gas to Egypt national grid.

In September 2019 Sonker received the first Gasoil cargo after completing the construction activities of the Gasoil tank farm.
In October 2020 Sonker received the first LPG cargo after completing the construction activities of the LPG tank farm.
In April 2021 Sonker conducted the first bunker barge operation.
